Middle European League (MEVZA)
Linz, Austria. January 25
"Linz-Steg" — SC "Prometey" 0-3 (15:25, 18:25, 14:25)
SC "Prometey" played their third match in a row in the MEVZA league. Today they were opposed by the Austrian giant "Linz-Steg". However, by the standards of European volleyball, this team is approximately on the same level as "Branik" or "Marina", which the "red and whites" have already defeated before.
Considering the above, we did not have to expect any serious problems from rivals. Having taken the lead at the start of the meeting (2:5), the Ukrainians allowed the Austrians to lead within one point before the equator of the set - 9:10. However, our volleyball players did not stop there and organized another rush - 10:14.
The coach of the Austrians Facundo Morando took two time-outs in a short period of time, but they did not affect the course of the confrontation in any way. His players did not cope with face-to-face attacks. In addition, the courageous game of the volleyball players of "Prometey" in defense was noted. Hence such a solid advantage — 15:25.
Our athletes started the second set better than their opponents. However, their own mistakes prevented them from immediately breaking away in the score, in particular, on the serve - 6:7. Next, Viktoriia Danchak, so to speak, rehabilitated for the whole team, serving an ace - 9:12.
At a certain moment, the numbers on the scoreboard (11:18) somewhat relaxed the Ukrainians, because after that they lost several rallies in a row. Ivan Petkov timely took advantage of the time-out and eventually brought the players back into shape — 18:25.
Unlike the match against Branik, this time Prometey won the match already in the next set, which became their third in the MEVZA League. As for the final set itself, the events there developed according to the same scenario — 14:25.
