VC "Prometey" - "Arcada": a preview of the first match of the II round of the Champions League

On November 10 at 18:00, VC "Prometey" will begin participation in the second qualifying round of the CEV Champions League 2024.

We would like to remind you that the Champions League is the most prestigious club continental tournament. The players of Dnipro became a participant in these competitions for the first time in their history.

The first opponent of Andrii Levchenko's wards in Group VI will be the Romanian club "Arkada", which, at the same time, will also host the venue.

The Romanian team "Arcada" from the city of Galati is currently the raining champion of the country. In total, they achieved this title five times in a row (2019-2023).

It is interesting that the team gradually went to the championship: in 2016 and 2017 they became bronze medalists, and in 2018 - silver.

"Arcada" won the Romanian Cup twice in its history (in 2017 and 2022) and won the Super Cup three times (2017, 2019, 2023).

In the current season, "Arcada" has already managed to win the first national trophy - the Super Cup. In the finals, Sergio Stancu's wards defeated Kraiova (3:0).

Every season, the Romanian club takes part in European Cups. Mostly when it comes to the CEV Cup, but they have not yet achieved outstanding results in this tournament.

In the 2023-2024 season, "Arcada" includes legionnaires from Finland, Brazil, Slovenia and Hungary.

The Brazilian opposite Teo Lopez became the most effective attacker according to the results of the first round. In two matches, the player scored 35 points.

In the first round of the Champions League 2024, "Arcada" took second place in its group: the Romanians beat the Croatian "Mladost" (3:1) and lost to the Spanish club "Las Palmas" (0:3).

Let's add that the 41-year-old head coach of "Arcada" Sergio Stancu is also the mentor of the national team of Romania.
