The Ukrainian national team played its final match in the 2023 Eastern European Volleyball Zonal Association Championship on November 26 against Lithuania. Until the last round, our girls kept their chances of winning the "gold" and, as a result, going directly to Euro-2024.
In order to make the plan a reality, Anastasiia Kotliarenko's wards had to beat the Lithuanians and hope for Poland's defeat in the match against Latvia. As a result, the blue-yellow team completely coped with their task. By the way, this is their fifth consecutive victory in this tournament.
Unfortunately, no miracle happened in the parallel game. The Poles achieved success with an "easy" score and eventually became the winners of the competition. So, our athletes won silver awards, losing only to the current champions in the first round on a tie-break.
We would like to remind you that the championships of zonal associations, in particular, EEVZA, are the qualifying stage of the European Championship-2024, where only the winners of the tournaments go directly. All other national teams will continue to fight for tickets to the continental championship in the second round.
